ITV Coronation Street fans gutted for Simon after Leanne's 'poisonous' words

Coronation Street fans couldn't help feeling sorry for Simon tonight, after Leanne's harsh statement.

Leanne has been struggling with her grief as she discovered that son Oliver had a life-limiting condition mitochondrial disease.

Tonight's episode saw Leanne continue to struggle with news, as she kept her grief to herself.

She lashed out at Steve for coming round saying: "I can't cope with having you here all the time."

She then said: "Oliver is my little boy, the boy I never thought I'd have, when he's gone what do I have.

"You'll have Amy and Emma, I don't have that."

But Leanne's stepson Simon was waiting just outside the door and heard everything she said.

He left the flat and bumped into Amy who asked him if he was OK, following Oliver's diagnosis.

Simon hit back and said: "He's not even my brother is he."

And viewers at home felt awful for Simon.

Lisa Barry said: "Poor Simon though hearing that."

Kelly said: "Can't believe how selfish Leanne is being! yes my heart breaks for her that she's going to lose Oliver at such a young age but what about Simon?! he might not biologically be her son but she raised him."

Jodi said: "Oh no poor Simon. He's really matured and become a kind young lad. This might set him off the rails again. You have two sons, Leanne. Yes Simon is adopted but blood doesn't mean everything."

And Ryan Glendenning said: "Those words were so poisonous and were uncalled for from Leanne. Simon might not be her real son but she treats he like one. He should be in her thoughts as well."

*Coronation Street continues at 7:30pm on ITV on Friday
