ITV Coronation Street fans claim there's a plot hole in a major storyline

Coronation Street fans claimed to have spotted a confusing "error" in a major storyline that aired tonight.

On Monday, Toyah and Imran were thrilled after they were told by the social workers that they have a good chance of being accepted as foster parents, as they excitedly planned for their panel hearing.

However, shocking news came in that Steve and Leanne's child Oliver has an incurable form of mitochondrial disease.

As news of Oliver’s diagnosis reached Toyah she broke the news to Imran that they will have to put their own plans on hold.

In tonight's episode, Toyah explained to Imran that Leanne is in bits and now is the wrong time to foster a child.

Toyah and Imran told Karen, the social worker, that given the situation with Oliver, they need to put their fostering plans on hold.

But viewers said they were confused by how fast Toyah and Imran were accepted for foster care in the first place.

One said: "I thought the fostering process is meant to be rigorous? Couples split up so often and there's so much destruction on the street to put off foster agencies."

Sarah Jane said: "How did Toyah and Imran in #corrie get assessed for fostering when they have no spare room, haven’t been in a relationship or living together for two years and Toyah has had very recent difficulties with fertility, IVF etc.

"Any one of those is usually a stumbling block."

And Richard said: "How long have #Toyah and #Imran been together on #CoronationStreet? How the hell would the get a panel date for fostering???"
