ITV Coronation Street fans call out soap for 'far fetched' doctors scene

Fans of Coronation Street took issue with the ITV soap for its doctor scene in tonight's episode.

Last week, Dev Alahan, played by Jimmi Harkishin, discovered his daughter Asha, played by Tanisha Gorey, had been using skin lightening creams.

The harsh chemicals in the creams had resulted in nasty sores and burns on Asha's arms and Dev managed to convince her to seek medical advice.

But when they arrived at the doctor's surgery they were seen almost immediately, prompting many viewers to brand this as unrealistic considering how long people can sometimes wait in their local GP's.

Taking to Twitter, one @dirtyandwrong ·said: " #corrie is so far fetched... no one gets seen that quickly in the doctors."

Another, @TheJokerMan2019 said: " #Corrie Bloody hell she walks into the surgery and gets seen straight away.... there is hope for the NHS then...."

A third, @Jamie__Lea said: " Somehow I find it hard to believe that the drs are running on time in Corrie."

A fourth, @amgrumpy said: " Must go to that surgery she was only there 2 secs."

And others called out the receptionist, Liz McDonald, played by Beverly Callard for her indiscretion, on @moore95_pamela·said: " If Liz was my receptionist, I'd change my surgery. Where's the confidentiality. Appalling."

But many viewers praised the soap for highlighting the story in a realistic way, @Eley01 said: " @itvcorrie are doing this storyline so well."

Another, @Mel_Navan said: " @itvcorrie #Corrie OUCH, that looks far too realistic."

*Coronation Street is on ITV1, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm
