ITV Coronation Street fans agree as pregnant actress tries to hide her bump

Fans of Coronation Street have agreed about how the soap have handled one actress' pregnancy.

Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding announced the joyous news that she's expecting her second child on the red carpet at The British Soap Awards back in June. Since then, the ITV soap has been finding inventive ways to try and hide her growing baby bump, as her on-screen character isn't expecting.

From using props such as washing baskets and blankets to hide Julia's growing belly, soap bosses have been trying their best to conceal the pregnancy. However, it seems that eagle eyed viewers are still noticing and are all making the same complaint.

Taking to Twitter, fans have been questioning what is going to happen with the character's storyline to help explain the bump as it is not being "hidden very well". Von said: "Blimey! They don't even try to hide actress pregnancies any more on #Corrie."

Julie said: "Shona’s baby bump is quite obvious now and they are not hiding it very well. I wonder how they will write her out while she’s off having the baby? #Corrie."

A third said: "Shona - worst hidden baby bump ever! #Corrie." Meanwhile, another user said: "Are corrie even trying to hide Shona’s bump??? Need more props #Corrie"

Speaking to OK! on the red carpet Julia, 37, said it has been "hard" to keep her pregnancy a secret. She said: "It's been quite hard to keep it secret and they've dug out my maternity clothes from three years ago, so it's all systems go again."

"It's generally up to the director or costume department to sort of try and conceal it a bit. Obviously, I'm not as big, I'm used to being a lot bigger when I had Franklin."

The actress welcomed her first-born son Franklin Wolf Silver in November 2019 with her husband Ben Silver.
