ITV confirms huge schedule change this Christmas for Good Morning Britain

ITV has confirmed a huge schedule change for Good Morning Britain, which is normally a weekday show.

For the first time ever the show will air on a weekend as it is shown on Christmas Day, which falls on a Saturday this year, meaning that the schedule change will make ITV history.

The pre-recorded Christmas special show will see Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway host as special guests appear on the show.

The hosts will be joined by Martin and Shirlie Kemp from their Christmas Grotto at home in their shed.

Whilst Christmas is a favourite time of year for the couple and their children, this year they will also be marking the five year anniversary of the passing of their beloved friend, George Michael.

The next guest will be Fred Siriex, who appears on screen with his new red hair and will talk about taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

Olympic couple Laura and Jason Kenny will also be on the show talking about their Christmas together as they wear matching festive jumpers.

They aren’t the only Olympic guests as the show is also joined by Max Whitlock in East London - the most successful British gymnast of all time - and Dame Sarah Storey in Cheshire - Britain’s most successful Paralympian.

Throughout the show, viewers will be treated to exclusive acapella performances by newly re-formed boyband The Wanted.

As well as performances from The Wanted, there will also be an exclusive performance from Grammy-award winning Nora Jones who sings ‘White Christmas’ in New York.

And it wouldn’t be Christmas Day on GMB without continuing the show’s 1 Million Minutes campaign and giving a special award.

The Dame Barbara Windsor Award will be awarded on the Christmas Day show to a lady who has devoted her life to caring for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's at a care home in Manchester.

Gladys Nkohla - who has been a nurse for over 50 years - worked throughout the pandemic, covering extra night shifts despite being vulnerable herself.

Watch Good Morning Britain ’s Christmas Day show tomorrow (Saturday 25th December 2021) from 7-9am
