Love Island viewers got a massive shock during Monday night's final when it was confirmed that ITV are bringing Big Brother back.
There has been some speculation over the last few months as to whether the programme dubbed 'the original reality show' could be making a return, although nothing was set in stone. However, there is no mistaking Big Brother's famous theme tune and when it played during the final Love Island ad break, eyes pricked up and jaws dropped as the iconic eye logo also appeared.
While massively excited about Big Brother coming back, some viewers were baffled as to why ITV would 'upstage' the Love Island final, won by Ekin-Su and Davide, with the announcement, although of course there was the advantage of a huge audience watching at home to see the news.

As Twitter went wild, ITV made a official statement, promising fans that contestants would be picked from 'all walks of life,' adding: "ITV continued: "The action will all play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given its own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show.
"Clever tasks, nail-biting nominations and live evictions will be back, with the public once again playing a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life-changing cash prize."
The reaction online to the news about Big Brother was huge, with scores of excited tweets. One viewer tweeted: "yeah cool Ekin-Su & Davide won but come on itv knew what they were doing advertising BIG BROTHER! soz love island, I’m ready for BB now," with another reacting: "2 seasons of love island next year and the return of Big Brother. So basically ITV don't want me to have a life next year."
Big Brother started life on Channel 4 back in 2000, where it stayed for 10 years before ending with Ultimate Big Brother in the autumn of 2010. It made its debut on Channel 5 with Celebrity Big Brother in the summer of 2011 and ended its run in 2018.
