ITV Chase star shows off slim figure in weight loss selfie after shedding 10 stone

Television star Mark Labbett has shown off his slim figure in a new photo as he celebrated shedding a whopping 10 stone.

The Chase star, also known as The Beast, posed for a weight loss selfie on social media in a navy-blue suit and pink shirt, the Daily Record reports. Fans flocked to the stars Instagram comments to praise his slimmer-looking shape.

One Instagram user wrote: ""You look amazing, what's your secret?" Another added: "Wow!!! You've lost some weight! Well done Mark."

The 57-year-old has publicly spoken out about his abrupt lifestyle change that led to him losing an astonishing amount of weight. The star, who first appeared on the ITV quiz show in 2009, has been open about his weight throughout his time on TV and how it hit its peak in 2020.

Mark was at his heaviest before television, as he hit 29 stone while working as a full-time teacher. After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2016, Mark knew he had to make a change in his life to stop his health from worsening.

Now, thanks to a change in diet and exercise, Mark has dropped a whopping ten stone. He is now the "smallest" he's been in over 30 years, after shedding around 64kg.

The Chase star had dropped three stone before the pandemic, but said he really shed the pounds during the first Covid lockdown in 2020. When nurseries shut, Mark spent his days chasing his "hyperactive" toddler around the house, and the weight began to drop.

Speaking to the Loose Women panel in 2021, Mark said: "I found at the end of the evening instead of going to the fridge for late night snacking, all I could do was collapse on the bed."

Mark also credited his pet Labrador Retriever Baloo for his transformation, as he discussed the pup's involvement on ITV's The Pet Show. He said: "I was walking him around the fields, taking me places... I think he's helped a lot, simply because I'm doing more activity."

Mark also cut down on sugar and carbs from his diet, as it was the key to his "complete nutrition overhaul". Mark didn't undergo any weight loss surgery, as doctors warned a gastric band would be dangerous due to his diabetes diagnosis.

After developing Covid symptoms, Mark also shed weight then as he "didn't want to eat" - due to his loss of taste and smell.

You can watch Mark do his daily job on The Chase, airing on ITV at 5pm each weekday.
