ITV Britain's Got Talent: Viewers call for ban on children's acts in show

A number of Britain's Got Talent fans have called for a ban on children's acts following Saturday night's instalment of the ITV show, which featured a number of acts with kids.

Birmingham Live reports that viewers are insisting that contestants who are under 16 should have their own version of the show - Britain's Got Talent Kids, or something. Saturday's episode (May 21) featured acts from nine-year-old magician Ryland and seven-year-old Skylar who danced her way through to the next round of the competition - Ryland also made it through.

And while judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams dished out their 'yeses' to the young contestants, viewers at home were less impressed, complaining that there were now too many children on the show and urging ITV to create a version of BGT similar to the BBC's The Voice Kids.

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts. @MJ_JJ061215) tweeted: "There are way too many kids on #BritainsGotTalent this year, they should have their own series and leave this to the adults. #BGT."

And @robin101962 agreed, writing: "More kids? Really need a kids version of #BGT & have 16yo & over on the main show."

Similarly, @ChrisPJCurley said: "Urgh is this BGT the kids edition? #BGT." And @MK5678456 added: "I thought this was Britain’s Got Talent and not you’re average school talent show. #BGT #BritainsGotTalent."
