ITV has axed teatime fantasy drama Jekyll and Hyde following disappointing viewing figures and controversy over its graphic scenes.
Creator Charlie Higson tweeted on Tuesday evening that it was a “sad day”.
Sad day today as ITV announce they don’t want any more #JekyllandHyde Ah well, I tried. It was a grand adventure while it lasted.

Jekyll and Hyde got off to a controversial start last November when more than 500 people complained to Ofcom about graphic scenes including a man being battered to death. The regulator is still investigating the show.
An episode was also postponed following the terrorist attacks in Paris on 13 November.
ITV moved Jekyll and Hyde around over the festive period, and aired the final two episodes as a double bill on the Sunday after Christmas. Opening with 4.8 million viewers, ratings fell to 1.8 million for the final episode.
The channel’s replacement for the teatime slot on Sunday, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, has yet to take off, bringing in 2.6 million viewers for its first episode.
