ITV antiques dealer quits job after 10 years to work alongside Love Island star daughter

Dickinson's Real Deal expert Cheryl Hakeney has decided to quit her job on the show to go and work with her Love Island star daughter.

Cheryl is a regular expert on the ITV lunchtime show, where she buys some of the public's best antique items they've found in their homes.

However after ten years, Cheryl has confirmed she won't appear in the next series as she was too busy working alongside her Love Island star daughter Zara Holland at their fashion business.

The mother and daughter duo own Mimi Boutique, which they say has only been growing and growing amid the pandemic and their business has doubled, writes The Mirror.

Speaking to the Mail Online, she said: "I did the show for 14 years. I was one of the originals but now mine and Zara's business is booming, unfortunately I don't have enough time to film the next series."

Cheryl says that Dickinson's Real Deal is completely different from popular BBC show Antiques Roadshow because deals are actually being made on screen.

She said: "'Lots of people tend to think it's not our real money or we don't really buy the items but oh boy yes we do. It is a real deal and that's where the fascination is. We are real dealers, and it is our real money. I'll be truthful, sometimes I've purchased something that I've had to sell at a considerable loss.

"On the Antiques Roadshow nobody is actually buying, and no cash is being exchanged. Nobody is going to auction so they just give their opinion of maybe what it's worth, we give a real deal there and then, people can see what happens when they go to auction."

Back in 2016, Zara Holland was stripped of the Miss Great Britain crown for having sex with Alex Bowen on ITV show Love Island.

At the time, Cheryl said: "I'm really surprised by Zara's behaviour - it's definitely out of character. But, although it's not her proudest moment, she hasn't committed any crime, I'm disappointed they took her title away.

"I hoped they would understand that all young women make mistakes."

Mimi Boutique was founded in 2009 and Cheryl and Zara run it together. They have a boutique in Hessle, East Yorkshire and another in Beverley, East Yorkshire. They also sell online too with items coming from Italy, Paris and the UK.
