ITV announce change to Emmerdale schedule on Thursday night

Soap fans are being warned after ITV made a big change to the Emmerdale air time tonight.

The popular soap, set in the Yorkshire Dales, normally airs at 7pm on weeknights, with a special hour episode on Thursdays.

But tonight the schedule has been changed because of international football airing on ITV instead.

To fit the football in tonight's Emmerdale is due to air at 6:45pm.

Tonight's episode will only be half an hour long, because the hour long episode was shown on Tuesday instead.

The live International Football will see England v San Marino with a 7.45pm kickoff, but with coverage starting from 7:15pm.

The ITV soap will return to the usual time of 7pm on Friday night.

Tonight's episode sees the drama in the Dales continue, after a big week on the soap.

Paul's viscous attack on Vinny caused many people complain to Ofcom last week.

One person tweeted: "Why has Emmerdale gone like this? Never used to be so nasty. Why do soaps feel they need to air these storylines?"

Another even argued the show is trying to 'promote' violence, and posted: "Them in charge seem to promote violence #emmerdale."

And a third viewer penned: "I actually found the attack scene really distressing to watch and I hope @emmerdale are ending this storyline soon."

The scene aired prior to the 9pm watershed and Ofcom confirmed that they received 66 complaints.

In the scenes that viewers have complained about, Paul punched his son to the floor and proceeded to kick him several times.

The character was then seen panicking as Vinny lay lifeless on the gravel.

As he urged his son to wake up, Paul told him he was sorry and was about to walk away when Vinny started coughing and came to.
