ITV and Channel 4 News teams go Ron Burgundy over Allegra Stratton ‘leak’

Anchorman

Ah, who can forget the classic TV news team battle royale in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. In something akin to a historical re-enactment of the classic fight scene, it was gloves off between the teams at ITV News and Channel 4 News when the news of Allegra Stratton’s potential defection emerged on Twitter. Channel 4 News’s Michael Crick took it upon himself to torpedo ITV News’s appointment announcement by revealing on Friday that Stratton was “in talks” to make the move from Newsnight. Cue furious exchanges between said news rivals, both are housed at ITN, over the “in-house leak”. Monkey is unclear whether the bust up was accompanied by Burgundy’s single pre-battle rule: “No touching of the hair or face. Let’s do this.”
