ITV Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow viewers demand return of Michael Barrymore

Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow viewers turned in tonight for a re-imagining of classic hit Strike It Lucky - but they were all missing the same thing.

The series, which was filmed before current lockdown measures, is a revival of classic game shows hosted by popular comedian Alan Carr.

Strike It Lucky was the hit 1980s and 90s quiz show featuring lots of little screens, with the goal for players being to avoid the hot spots.

It was originally hosted by Michael Barrymore and Alan Carr offers a different hosting style to his predecessor.

Alan whips up and down the show's steps and makes constant jokes with the contestants and often quips: "You get prizes, I get fit."

The funnyman jokes about how unfit he is, much to the amusement of the audience.

But it seems viewers were missing Michael Barrymore this evening.

Gameshow fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Jenny said: "Oh dear #AlanCarr does not have the same rapport as #MichaelBarrymore. If you're bringing #StrikeitLucky back without @MrBarrymore, don't bother".

Another viewer said: "Barrymore was the king presenter of this game. Alan Carr is a very poor substitute."

Sarah said: "I miss @MrBarrymore doing Strike it Lucky Nothing against Alan Carr though he is funny also".

Natalie commented: "Whatever you say about Michael Barrymore... #StrikeitLucky just isn't the same without him (sorry Alan Carr)".

And some viewers tweeted Michael Barrymore directly, asking for his thoughts.

One said: "@MrBarrymore Are you watching this #epicgameshow? How on earth can Alan Carr compete? You absolutely owned this show!"

Jane also tweeted the former host and said: "Just watching Alan Carr with Strike it Lucky ....not the same without you".

Peter said: "Alan Carr is doing OK, but not the same without you Michael."

Katie added: "@MrBarrymore Are you watching Alan Carr closely with your show tonight!"

Michael Barrymore was a popular TV host in the 1990s, but his career was overshadowed by the tragic death of a guest in his swimming pool in 2001.

*Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow airs on ITV at 7.30pm on Saturday nights
