ITV admit Piers Morgan is 'irreplaceable' on Good Morning Britain after channel cancel presenter

The ITV boss who cancelled Piers Morgan has admitted the host is 'irreplaceable' on Good Morning Britain.

The controversial host of the early morning ITV breakfast programme walked off after a heated debate with weather man Alex Bresford.

But after refusing to apologise for his remarks about Meghan Markle, Piers chose to resign.

Now, Kevin Lygo, ITV's Director of Television, has admitted there isn't anyone who can replace the presenter.

Lygo has revealed how the gap left by Morgan will be replaced, setting out how the show will try to keep viewers tuning in.

But he insisted there was no bad blood, and that Morgan had a "good run", Wales Online reports.

It has begun rotating fan favourite presenters including Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway in a bid to keep fans at home happy.

Mr Lygo told Deadline: “Piers is a special thing. You can’t replace somebody like him. There is nobody like Piers, for good or bad.

“We have a roster of presenters, including Ben Shephard, Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, and Kate Garraway.

"They’re all stepping up and doing a few more days than they would have done. We’ll mix and match until we feel what the right thing is to do. There isn’t a single person who can replace him," the TV boss said.
