The viewer's email to the ITV duty log started positively enough. "I have just finished watching Real Crime with Mark Austin dealing with the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky. This was an excellent programme about this tragic crime." However ... "Immediately after the showing of her husband telling how he was informed of his wife's death, the programme faded to the first ad break when we were greeted by someone shrieking 'I'm Alive' at the start of an ad for the drink 5 Alive. What idiot decided that this should be broadcast at that time, when deciding on the running order of what ad is shown when? ... Please register my strong complaint and I would like to be assured that better scrutiny will be used in your future."
