ITN is proudly celebrating its 60th anniversary with a bit of special soiree for famous alumni who “did so much to make ITN great over the years” on Thursday at the company’s Gray’s Inn Road HQ. Meanwhile, back in the trenches, current staff have been told they might briefly “pop down to the Atrium” before trudging back to their desks. Clearly keen to make sure that rank-and-file staffers don’t snaffle too much of the champers saved for the alumni being “honoured”, chief executive John Hardie has even run an internal email RSVP to “keep track of numbers”. First come, first served it is then. But it’s all OK, because staff can roll their enthusiasm for the 60th celebrations into one giant Christmas party ITN is planning, which Hardie promises will be a “spectacular event”. “Those of you who attended the all-staff party last year will recall that we certainly know how to have a good time,” said Hardie in a staff email. Ho, ho, ho indeed. Surely those that had a fab time can’t actually recall said event, no? Monkey’s got the date locked in.
