SET-listed Interlink Telecom (ITEL) is aiming for 1.4 billion baht in revenue this year, up 40% from last year, thanks to its project backlog worth 24 billion.
The company is willing to bid for the second phase of the 18-billion-baht USO broadband project, scheduled for auction in March. The company is confident it can win bids for some parts of the project, said managing director Nuttanai Anuntarumporn.
The first phase of the USO Net project was auctioned by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) last year, covering 3,920 villages. ITEL secured the rights to part of the project covering central and southern provinces, with a winning bid of 1.8 billion baht.
The USO Net project generated 250 million baht in revenue last year and is forecast to provide 517 million in 2018.
The NBTC plans to expand the USO Net project through its second phase to serve the government's policy to eliminate the digital divide in remote areas.
"For the second phase, ITEL aims to grab part of the project, worth 3 billion baht, as the scheme requires seamless connectivity in the first phase," he said.
Mr Nuttanai said the company operates in three core business areas: telecom network rental service for fibre-optics (data communication service); installation service for telecom networks; and data centre management.
"Installation service for telecom networking is a core earner for the company," he said.
Mr Nuttanai said the company expects revenue from its data communication service will contribute 80% of total revenue by 2023, up from 60%.
ITEL is expanding capacity for its data centre hosting system to serve high growth demand from local enterprises.
