Construction titan Italian-Thai Development Plc (ITD) has agreed to pay a fine of nearly 200,000 baht to Chatuchak district office after chopping the tops off 14 large trees without a permit.
"Fourteen trees were lopped back. The total damages we have agreed to pay could reach around 198,000 baht," a source at ITD told the Bangkok Post.
The source said the company had admitted violating the Cleanliness and Orderliness of the Country Act BE 2535 (1992) and would accept a penalty for damaging the trees of 170,000 baht, plus a further 2,000 baht fine per tree as they are located in a public area.
