Italy vs England chaos as Wembley 'shut down' after fans storm into stadium for UEFA Euro 2020 final

Ugly scenes are brewing at the Euro 2020 final after scores of ticketless fans stormed their way into Wembley.

Footage earlier on Sunday showed a number of people attempting to force their way into the stadium for England's showdown with Italy in London.

UEFA issued a statement insisting the stadium had not been breached but now reports claim fans have been able to force their way into Wembley without tickets and that the ground was temporarily locked down.

The Guardian report multiple eyewitnesses attest that people managed to get beyond the electronic ticket gates and onto the concourse.

The stadium has been permitted to 60,000 of its 90,000 capacity amid a continued easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

Videos circulating on social media show stewards being overwhelmed by the volume of people attempting to gain entry.

However, there has been no official indication that the match will be affected by the disruption with both England and Italy completing their warm-ups as normal.

Kick-off is due at 8pm but ITV journalist Steve Scott tweeted entrances to Wembley were shut down for a period of time, with no one able to enter.

He wrote: "Morons. Doing their best to ruin what should be a proud night and a great occasion. Kid’s crying, Wembley temporarily shut down. Idiots, every last one of them."

The emerging reports from inside the stadium contradict UEFA's official line earlier that no person had managed to enter the stadium without a ticket.
