Italy's new travel rules for Scottish travellers as country tightens Covid restrictions

Italy have announced they are tightening their Covid restrictions as Omicron continues to spread throughout Europe.

As part of tougher requirements, the popular holiday destination has ruled out a 'Super Green Pass' to those who are fully vaccinated.

The new rules will impact Scottish tourists who wish to visit Italy as the pass allows entry into domestic venues.

Anyone aged 12 or over who has been fully vaccinated or can prove recovery are eligible for the Super Green Pass.

It will allow access to the likes of hotels, restaurants bars and ski lifts for those planning a skiing trip.

According to the UK Foreign Office website: "From 10 January until 31 March a Super Green Pass is required to access restaurants, bars, hotels, all local and regional transport services (excluding taxis and international flights) as well as museums, cultural centres, sports facilities and stadiums.

"A super Green Pass is also needed to access outdoor facilities such as restaurants, swimming pools, wellness centres, ski lifts and to participate in celebrations following civil and religious ceremonies."

Children aged 11 or under are exempt from these new requirements.

Italy entry requirements

Italy is currently one of the countries open to Brits for holidays.

All Brits need to complete a pre-departure passenger locator form with a QR code to show at border control.

Those who are fully vaccinated against Covid need to show proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before.

An antigen test taken within 24 hours.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated Brits will need a negative Covid PCR test result taken within 48 hours before departure.

They will then have to isolate for five days.

They must take a second Covid test, which can be a PCR or antigen test.

However, those are unvaccinated will not be able to get. Super Green Pass unless they have proof of recovery from Covid.

The Super Green Pass allows entry into venues such as restaurants and bars, and ski lifts.

While the latest Covid rules are correct at the time of writing, they can be subject to change quickly during the pandemic.
