The Egyptian Manpower Ministry has closed the 15-year disappearance case of Eid al-Adham in Italy after the Italian authorities found his skeletal remains.

Adham, an Egyptian citizen, had mysteriously disappeared in 2004 while working in the northern Italian city of Piacenza, before the Italian authorities could finally find his skeleton while demolishing an abandoned building in mid-2018.

The skeleton was moved to the morgue of Pavia in July 2018, Egyptian Manpower Ministry's Labor Representation Office in the country's consulate in Milan said in a statement.

The Italian police contacted Adham's brother, Samir, and took a DNA sample, the ministry said in a statement. Several months later the police told him they found his brother.

But the Italian authorities have failed to know the cause of death.

Egyptian Minister of Manpower and Immigration Mohamed Saafan ordered a close follow-up on the repatriation of Adham’s remains, which is set to take place on Thursday.
