Princess Beatrice's wedding has been thrown into doubt over coronavirus as her Italian fiance's family could be barred from coming to Britain.
William and Harry's cousin may see her big day scuppered as flying her partner Edo Mapelli Mozzi's parents from Italy could prove tricky with the majority of flights from the locked down country grounded.
The Queen had given the 31-year-old royal her blessing to tie the knot in the Chapel Royal in St James's Palace on May 29, before a private reception at Buckingham Palace.
But an insider has told the Daily Telegraph the deadly virus has "thrown a bit of a spanner in the works".
"Although there is no suggestion that Italy will remain in lock down until the end of May, obviously, the whole thing does cast doubt over the guest list," said the source.
Edo's stag do may also feel the impact of the virus - although, a date and location for it has not been revealed.
More than 4,000 people have died as a result of coronavirus worldwide with the UK death toll having climbed to eight on Wednesday evening.
Britain's overall number of cases stands at 456 - the largest leap yet in the number of people infected in a single day.
Those most at risk from the virus are the elderly with many fatalities of people in Italian being in their 80s - around 23 percent of its residents are 65 or over, which goes some way to explaining why its death rate has been so high.
Nearly 200 have died from Covid-19 in the mainland European country in the last 24 hours taking its official toll to 827, despite the nationwide lockdown.
The Queen, 93, and Prince Philip, 99, are said to both be unlikely to attend their granddaughter's wedding if the virus' spread in the UK mirrors that in Italy.
Royal author Phil Dampier has said Her Majesty is "soldiering on" with no current plans to cancel any summer garden parties.
But said he could not believe her aides would allow her to go on greeting thousands of people if the virus gets worse.
"Not at her age," the author added.
The Covid-19 virus has infected 115,800 people worldwide and at least 1,000 people in the United States have been affected.
China has seen the most infections, with 80,793 people reportedly suffering with the illness.
The virus has killed over 4,200 people worldwide with 3,169 of these deaths being in China.
