Italy and Austria removed from Ireland’s mandatory hotel quarantine list as more countries added

Italy, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ukraine are just some of the 11 countries that have been removed from Ireland’s mandatory hotel quarantine list.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly made the announcement in a statement released this evening.

Passengers arriving from the following 11 countries will no longer have to quarantine upon arrival in Ireland; Armenia, Aruba, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Curaçao, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, North Macedonia and Ukraine.

The revocations come into effect from today.

Elsewhere, Minister Donnelly has announced that anyone travelling from Nepal and Anguilla will have to quarantine upon arrival in Ireland.

The decision to add these two countries to the list of designated states was taken following advice received by the Chief Medical Officer.

People arriving into Ireland having been in or transited through Nepal and Anguilla in the previous 14 days now must enter mandatory hotel quarantine.

Passengers travelling from or via these States that arrive in Ireland after 04.00 on Wednesday, 12 May are required to enter quarantine in a designated hotel.

The booking portal will be updated to reflect these changes in due course.

This means that people arriving from these countries will have to pay €2,000 for their designated two weeks quarantine period at hotel, unless they have been fully vaccinated or have urgent/essential reasons for travelling.
