Italy 17-28 Scotland: Late drama secures bonus point win for Scots in Florence

Scotland secured a bonus point victory away to Italy in Florence thanks to some late drama.

Tries from Scott Cummings and George Turner with the clock ticking were enough to see Gregor Townsend's men to victory. Zander Fagerson and Duhan van der Merwe also scored tries for Scotland in their Autumn Nations Cup opener this afternoon.

It was far from straight-forward though and the Italians started well, going in 11-7 at the break after an impressive opening 40-minutes which saw some fine rugby being played.

After Van der Merwe's try and Duncan Weir's conversion shortly before the break Italy hit back almost immediately through a fantastic Matteo Minozi try to put them four clear at half time.

Scotland went up a gear in the second half though, and Zander Fagerson's converted try set them on their way before Cummings and Turner made sure of the bonus-point win.

Ultimately Italy will be left disappointed after being in an excellent position to secure their first win over the Scots in five years.

For Townsend it's another decent victory, and a momentum builder going into the upcoming clash with France.
