A popular Italian restaurant just outside Nottingham city centre has announced it will permanently close.
Gusto in Bridgford Road, West Bridgford, which shut its doors last month at the beginning of the national lockdown, will not reopen this December following a difficult period for the hospitality industry.
The restaurant chain - which opened its Nottinghamshire site in 2017 - has announced closures elsewhere in the country, saying it was forced to take the drastic measures to 'protect the future of Gusto.'
Local customers with gift cards that can still be used have been asked to visit the Gusto website to discuss options with a team member.
A spokesperson for Gusto, West Bridgford, said: "It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of our restaurant in West Bridgford.
"This is not a decision that we intended to make but sadly we have been left with no choice.
"Covid-19 has had a significant impact on our business, like many in the industry, and we're terribly sad to be closing our doors.
"We can’t thank you enough for being members of our Gusto family, for choosing us to celebrate birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and so many other special occasions with us, which we hold dear to our hearts.
"We do hope that this isn’t goodbye and hope to welcome you in one of our other Gusto restaurants across the country soon."
Other Gusto restaurants closing in the UK include Glasgow, Lytham, Mere Green, Leamington Spa and York.
