The Italian city of Forlì has celebrated the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death by organizing a huge event featuring 300 artworks that explore the myths surrounding the poet.
Following many delays due to the pandemic, the San Domenico Museum (Musei di San Domenico) is now exhibiting major, centuries old art pieces.
The "Dante: The Vision of Art" exhibition includes masterpieces by Michelangelo, Fra Angelico, Pablo Picasso, and Tintoretto, and will run until July 11. Other museums in other Italian provinces with low coronavirus infection rates have been allowed to reopen their doors, a good news as the country celebrates the poet known as Divine Comedy or "Divina Commedia."
Dante was born in Florence in 1265, and died in 1321, in his hometown Forli, in the northern region of Emilia-Romagna.
The exhibition is held in collaboration with the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence.
