Italian media claims Leeds United have agreement with AS Roma over departure

Leeds United defender Diego Llorente looks set to return to AS Roma according to reports in Italy. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims there's now ‘total agreement’ between the two parties ahead of another loan deal to the Serie A side.

The Spanish defender spent the second-half of last season on loan with Jose Mourinho's side and was expected to complete a permanent move away from Elland Road as a result. After struggling to get into the starting line-up of I Giallorossi, Llorente became an important player for the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.

However, come the end of the campaign, Roma were unhappy with the asking price set by Leeds United and cast doubt over the long-term future of Llorente at Elland Road. Nonetheless, the two parties are said to have reached and agreement over another loan move for the central defender, only this time there’s a purchase option which can become an obligation if certain terms are met.

If Llorente features in 50 per cent of AS Roma's games next season, the obligation to buy will kick into place. The Whites are expected to receive a fee of €5million.

It's a figure far less then they'd be hoping for after handing the 29-year-old a new deal before heading out on loan last season. Many Leeds' supporters questioned that decision at the time and they've been proven right given Llorente left the club in January and played no part in their survival bid.

The Whites were said to have slapped an asking price of €18million on Llorente's head this summer, a fee deemed far too expensive by Mourinho's men.
