Italian great explains why Mauricio Pochettino is the perfect man to replace Allegri at Juventus

Andrea Pirlo has backed Mauricio Pochettino to become Juventus' new manager amid doubts over his long-term future at Spurs.

Signing a new five-year deal with the club 12 months ago, eyebrows were raised ahead of the Champions League semi-final triumph over Ajax when he claimed he would consider his future in north London if they lift the trophy in Madrid at the start of next month.

Linked with the Manchester United and Real Madrid jobs earlier this campaign, reports from Italy have now suggested that the Bianconeri have targeted the Argentine to replace Massimiliano Allegri in the hotseat if he does end up departing Turin.

Corriere dello Sport reported at the weekend that Pochettino has been in contact with the Italian giants and that he has demanded a huge €20m a year to move to Italy.

Speaking about the possibility of the highly-rated manager taking on the top job at Juventus, Pirlo has stated that Pochettino would be the perfect candidate to replace Allegri.

"He has an identity like Juve, he is a modern coach who has done a lot in the English league," the Italian told Sky Sport, as reported by Calciomercato.

"Modern coach does not mean only the construction of the game, but everything. It comes from Spanish football, it's a collection of things."

Allegri was quizzed about his future after Sunday's defeat against Roma and refused to guarantee that he will still be at the club come August.

"I still have another year left on my contract but it's important to analyse this season and the next season," he told Sky Sports Italia (via Goal).

"We must have clear ideas and be very clear in our assessments."
