Italian grandma tastes Starbucks coffee for the first time - and gives scalding review

A granddaughter recently treated her Italian grandmother to a sweet cup of Starbucks' iconic caramel macchiato, and it's fair to say she wasn't exactly impressed.

Maddie, from Sydney, Australia, regularly shares videos of herself and her nonna Fina hanging out, with clips ranging from bruschetta recipes to Met Gala outfit reviews.

However, as previously reported by the Daily Star, Maddie's no-nonsense nonna gave what was perhaps her most scathing review yet after being handed her very first Starbucks coffee.

Although Fina was initially eager to give it a try, after just one sip she was left pulling a face, declaring, "it doesn't even taste like coffee at all! It's too sweet!"

Fina said she'd pay the price of the coffee again for someone else to drink it for her (mynonnafina/TikTok)

Sharing footage of her grandma's repulsed reaction via TikTok - where she goes by the username @mynonnafina - an amused Maddie laughed, "I think four [out of ten] is her lowest rating yet!"

In the vid, Fina doesn't hold back with her unimpressed review, arguing: "You don't need that much sugar in coffee. It's junk coffee! For me, it's rubbish, I'm sorry."

When told the coffee cost $5 (£2.88), Maddie's nonna couldn't believe it, raging: "$5? Even if you gave it to me for free, I'd say, 'thank you very much, I'll give you another $5 but you drink it!"

She blasted it as "junk coffee" (mynonnafina/TikTok)

Fina, who apparently prefers an espresso, was then asked to give the coffee a rating out of ten, to which she replied with a very flat - and not at all tasty - four. Maddie's followers have since been left howling after seeing the straight-talking grandmother's reaction, hailing her as "the best".

One person chuckled: "I love her extreme reactions but surprisingly fair ratings."

Another person, who completely understood where she was coming from, commented: "Nonna has never spoken a truer word - Starbucks I tried for the first time this year - I’m 54 and I never have again even if I starve I won’t have it again."

This comes after Maddie pranked her discerning grandmother with a cup of instant coffee, which she likened to "pee water" after just one disgusted sip.
