Italian Grand Prix start time, grid positions, how to watch and weather forecast for Monza race

The Ferrari tifosi will turn Monza into a sea of red once again as the Italian Grand Prix takes centre stage this weekend.

The Scuderia’s famous home race is always an occasion to remember and Lewis Hamilton is getting his first taste of the event as a Ferrari driver in 2025, when the team are sporting a one-off livery to mark 50 years since the late Niki Lauda’s first world title triumph.

It was a dream start for the Briton and team-mate Charles Leclerc as they led a surprise one-two in Friday’s opening practice session following last weekend’s double retirement at the Dutch Grand Prix, with Lando Norris later clocking the fastest time of the day as he also seeks a swift response from a hugely frustrating afternoon in Zandvoort in which he had to retire late on after suffering engine failure.

However, Max Verstappen will start on pole at Monza after a blistering qualifying session, pipping Norris by seven-hundredths of a second. Leclerc joins Oscar Pisastri on the second row, with Hamilton in P5.

The 2025 Italian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, September 7 at the historic Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit in Monza, Italy - AKA ‘the Temple of Speed’.
