'It will probably cost' - Chelsea star wanted by Celtic, Rangers and Bristol City to go to highest bidder - reports

Chelsea will look to auction Tomas Kalas off this summer.

The defender spent this season on loan at Bristol City and impressed, forming a strong partnership with Adam Webster in the centre of defence.

City want to sign him on a permanent basis and he is said to be keen to leave Stamford Bridge this summer following a succession of loan moves.

Yet Celtic and Rangers are both interested in him too and The Sun's transfer expert Alan Nixon has claimed that the Blues will only sell him to the highest bidder.

He said: "Heard Kalas would go to highest bidder this summer. So if you want him it will probably cost.

"A few clubs looked at him during the season season.

"Will depend on the price, Chelsea don’t do cheap. So it is likely to be £4m to £5m range."

Bristol Live understands that the Robins would make Kalas the highest paid player at Ashton Gate, but the player is assessing his options after interest elsewhere.

Lee Johnson explained  in an interview with BBC Radio Bristol , any deal is likely to be expensive give the volume of suitors for the defender who has previously secured promotion from the Championship while on loan at Middlesbrough and Fulham.

"It's difficult to talk about that one, because he’s not our player," said Johnson to host Geoff Twentyman.

" I’d love to sign Tomas , we’re trying to get him but we’re in a number of clubs who will be after Tomas, he’s a quality player and of course that doesn’t come cheap, he knows that.

"Saying that, he really enjoyed his time here and we’ve got a great relationship in terms of me and him, he’s got a great partnership with Webster and Bailey Wright so he’s got those connections.

"I’m hopeful, but it’s a tough one because it won’t be cheap."
