'It will have to go to a replay now' - Dagenham reject Notts County FA Trophy request

Dagenham have rejected Notts County’s offer of allowing their FA Trophy clash to go to extra time and penalties this weekend.

The Magpies had hoped to settle the result on the day having done the same in the previous round when they beat Chesterfield 1-0.

But the Daggers said they preferred the option of a replay if the second-round clash ends all square.

Should that scenario occur then Notts will travel to Dagenham on Tuesday meaning they would have to  rearrange their National League clash at AFC Fylde which had been scheduled for the same night.

“Dagenham wanted the game to go to a replay at their place,” confirmed boss Neal Ardley.

“Both teams have to agree to it and my preference would be to get it done on the day which  would avoid fixture congestion.

“But it will have to go to a replay now.

“Either way, that means we will be playing three games in a week.

"We just don’t know who we will be playing on the Tuesday until we know the outcome of Saturday’s game.”
