Leeds United's hopes of securing promotion to the Premier League this season have suffered a massive blow tonight, as goalkeeper Kiko Casilla has been handed an eight-game ban by the FA after being found guilty of a racism claim.
The Spanish shot-stopper, who joined Leeds from Real Madrid back in January 2019, committed the offence during the Whites' 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic last September, with on-loan striker Jonathan Leko accusing Casilla of racially abusing him.
Now, the Leeds goalkeeper has been found guilty and handed an eight-game ban and a £60,000 fine, meaning he will miss a majority of Leeds' remaining Championship fixtures, as the club looks to try and gain promotion to the Premier League.
Unsurprisingly, the FA's decision has been met with murmurs of discontent from some Leeds supporters, who have blasted the FA's decision to hand the Spaniard an eight-match ban. Others, though, have taken the decision on the chin and are urging Leeds' players and supporters to come together as one and use the blow of losing Casilla as a motivation to try and seal promotion.
