'It was special, man' - Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes favourite Everton goal admission

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has admitted his strike against Southampton is his favourite in an Everton shirt after helping his side to a 3-1 victory on Saturday.

The Saints were sent packing from a raucous Goodison Park as the striker bagged the final goal of the match, following efforts from Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure previously in the second half.

Adam Armstrong had initially given the visitors the lead in the first period, but Everton and their fans rallied after half time in what was the first time since March 2020 that the famous stadium was full.

And Calvert-Lewin admitted that having those supporters back in their seats was special to him, and it made him feel like he was making his debut once more.

The striker told Match of the Day: "It was special, it was special, man.

"Having them back, it felt like I was making my debut again, when I was 19 years old.

"Just that atmosphere and raw emotion is what you play football for.

"Scoring goals, last season I scored a few with no fans there, that was my favourite one by a mile."

Last term, Calvert-Lewin bagged 21 goals in all competitions in what was his best return of his professional career so far.
