'It was heartbreaking' devastated Scots mum tells of cat's horror injuries after being 'kicked by thug'

A Scots mum has told of the 'heartbreaking' moment her beloved cat came home with horror injuries she suspects he got when 'kicked' by a thug.

Little Oreo returned to his home in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire around 4pm yesterday with 'massive' bruising around the stomach and bottom.

Shocked owner Bekah Gilmour rushed her pet to the local vets who initially thought the animal had been poisoned.

Oreo, who turned one in December, is now on pain relief and being fed through a syringe with blood in his urine at the vets.

The 27-year-old mum said Oreo was adored by her three kids and sometimes spent nights sleeping in bed with them and they were praying their cat would be alright.

She said: "He looks like he’s been kicked from behind, horrible wording but as though someone has hoofed him up the bottom.

"He’s on pain relief, he’s being syringe fed and has a fluid drip in he was given antibiotics and steroids to try help him fight it.

"His temperature was very low so they had to keep him on heat mats.

"He’s peed and there’s blood in his urine so he’s still there for now, he couldn’t walk when he came home he looked as though he was drunk.

"His back end kept swaying out and his front feet were like jelly and he kept falling over he was covered in poo and pee probably as a result of being kicked so hard.

"He was freezing and his gums and nose were pure white his white blood cells were very low and his heart rate was through the roof.

"I'm just glad he managed to get himself home how he managed I have no idea."

Bekah added that seeing her injured feline return home was 'heartbreaking'.

She said: "It was heartbreaking especially trying to pick him up to get him to the vet as it was hurting him to pick him up.

"The kids were in the house too so didn’t help them having to see him like that.

"Hoping tomorrow brings good news and he starts getting better so we can bring him home and so his vet bills don’t get any higher there’s just me and the kids so only so much I can do."

She appealed on social media for anyone with any information to get in touch.

She wrote on Facebook: "If anyone in the Buchanhaven area seen our boy yesterday and anyone near him could they let me know.

"He got rushed to the vet yesterday and was that bad they thought he had been poisoned, this morning a massive bruise from under his belly and bum and down his inside back leg has came out and looks like someone has kicked him from under his back legs to cause the trauma it has it must have been one hell of a kick.

"So if anyone has any information at all I’d be very grateful he is the friendliest loving cat would never do anyone any harm so for someone to hurt him like that is just sickening!"
