'It was coming from all angles' - Kristian Dennis says only way is up at Notts County after last season's nightmare

Kristian Dennis admits the "only way is up" as the Notts County striker admitted last season was one of the hardest of his career.

The Magpies forward has bagged 15 goals this season which has helped spearhead the club's rise to third in the National League table.

With promotion very much a possibility, it is a vast turnaround from this time last year when the Magpies surrendered in the battle to stay in the Football League.

Dennis ended that fight on loan at Grimsby Town, but he returned in the summer determined to prove a point  and having worked hard on his fitness, the striker is having a memorable campaign.

“I just couldn't get going last year,” admitted Dennis.

“It was a bad season all round for me.

“The change of managers and the uncertainty made it difficult to settle and results going against you doesn’t help.

“It was coming from all angles. Injuring my hamstring in pre-season meant I hadn’t built up the fitness I wanted and it definitely wasn’t the campaign I expected after signing with the hope of being promoted.

“But now the only way is up.”
