'It was an honour' - Yannick Bolasie sends heartfelt message to Everton after exit confirmed

Yannick Bolaise has sent a message to Everton after his release from the club was confirmed on Friday.

The winger made the move to Goodison Park in the summer of 2016 from Crystal Palace and went straight into Ronald Koeman's first team at the time, striking up a particular strong bond with Romelu Lukaku.

However, an injury sustained in December of that year kept the forward out for a year and had an adverse affect on his entire time with the club.

Numerous loan moves to Aston Villa, Anderlecht, Sporting Lisbon and Aston Villa followed for the 32-year-old before Friday's confirmation that he will leave the Blues on a permanent basis upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

Bolasie took to social media to thank the club for his time on Merseyside and speak of his honour at being able to play for Everton.

The winger wrote: "Thank you @Everton.

"Ups & downs in my rollercoaster journey but the smile stays forever…it was an honour to play for this football club and have the opportunity to be supported by the incredible fans

"Just know I repped the shirt till the end! Love Yala."

Bolasie leaves Everton having made 32 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring two goals in that time.

Some have speculated that the winger might return to his most recent loan side, Middlesbrough, this summer on a permanent basis - where he netted three goals and bagged four assists last term.
