'It was all a bit of a blur' - Swansea boss stunned by Nottingham Forest's extraordinary collapse

Swansea’s sensational win at Reading to secure a place in the Championship was something of a blur, admitted boss Steve Cooper.

The Swans were 4-1 winners at the Madejski Stadium, while Nottingham Forest capitulated to Stoke City by the same score, to see the Welsh side leapfrog the Reds into sixth and set up a semi-final with Brentford on Sunday.

"It was all a bit of a blur at the end,” the Swans boss said.

"But we got over the line.

“I don’t think we thought it would be that way, but it was going to take something extraordinary for it to happen, and it has.

"We're calm now and refocused. It's a pat on the back at the moment but still not a time for congratulations.

"We're there already, back down to earth. We've still got two or maybe three games to go.”

Despite taking an early lead and seeing Reading reduced to 10 men, the Swans’ hopes looked over when the Royals pulled level and Forest equalised at the City Ground.

Swansea’s man advantage took hold and they romped to a comfortable victory, while Sabri Lamouchi’s Forest fell apart in the final 20 minutes to leave their players shell-shocked.

"What an eventful night it was,” said Cooper.

“We've got the job done in the end, we achieved our objective, but no one thought that it was going to be in that way.

"It was, though, going to take something extraordinary for it to happen. And it has done.

"We started OK. We were decent with the ball. But we needed to pick it up a bit in the second half.

"And the four goals that we scored, that's our way of playing.

"Once we knew that we needed some more goals, with the way the Forest game was going, we didn't panic.”
