'It was a masterclass' - Owen Hargreaves praises Man City after crucial PSG victory

Owen Hargreaves has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain’s stars wish they could play for Manchester City, after they beat the French giants 2-1 at the Etihad on Wednesday.

PSG took the lead early in the second half through Kylian Mbappe's close range finish after a neat passage of play.

However, City equalised through Raheem Sterling after a well-worked move and Gabriel Jesus scored the winner following another intricate sequence involving Ilkay Gundogan and Bernando Silva.

The win means Pep Guardiola's side have qualified for the last-16 of the Champions League as group winners.

Former City midfielder Hargreaves lauded his old side’s performance and claimed that PSG’s star studded attack would relish being part of Guardiola’s team.

“I thought it was a masterclass today, to do that without Foden and De Bryune," he told BT Sport.

“Messi, Mbappe and Neymar will be coming off thinking '[I] wish we could play in a team with players like that.' It was 2-1 but felt like it was more.”

Fellow pundit and former City defender Joleon Lescott agreed with Hargreaves, and felt the result flattered the Ligue 1 leaders.

He added: “I don’t think the scoreline fairly reflects the performances of both teams. PSG were hanging on for dear life from the start.”

City return to Premier League action on Sunday when they welcome West Ham to the Etihad.
