'It was a good sign' - Wes Thomas feels Notts County comeback could be pivotal in promotion chase

Wes Thomas believes Notts County’s dramatic draw against Hartlepool could prove to be pivotal point come the end of the season.

The Magpies were 2-0 down after 30 minutes as Gavin Holohan and Luke James put the visitors in command.

But Thomas gave Neal Ardley’s side a lifeline before the break with a brave finish and then headed in the equaliser after the break.

Notts pushed hard for a winner, but could not find the breakthrough as they were forced to settle for a draw.

But Thomas believes given the circumstances and how it was achieved, he feels it could prove to a big one.

“I think it could be a massive point come the end of the season,” he said.

“We are only five points off the top of the league.

“We have kept the run going at home which is also important.

“We want to make it difficult for teams to come here and get results.

“We showed great character to get back into the game. We have a good strong squad and we’ve shown we can bounce back from disappointments.

“We don’t want to do it too often, but it’s a good sign.”
