'It took ten officers to pin him down': Shock after police arrest man 'stabbing people' in Moston

Up to ten police officers were required to detain a man armed with a weapon in north Manchester, witnesses have said.

Greater Manchester Police were called at around 9.25pm last night to reports of a man 'stabbing people' on Moston Lane, it is understood.

Officers arrived and found one man who had been stabbed.

He suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

One shop worker told how he saw a group of at least four men arguing near a takeaway shortly after 9pm.

Another said: "It looked like they were drunk then they had a fight."

Another resident, who asked not to be named, told the M.E.N: "It took ten of them [police officers] to pin him down.

"I think they found the weapon on Birchenall Street, police had it in a bag."

It is believed the weapon was a broken bottle.

A large section of Moston Lane was cordoned off on Sunday night while forensics experts combed the scene.

The road has since been reopened.

GMP said in a statement: "At around 9.25pm on Sunday 3rd October 2021, police were called to a report of a male attacking people on Moston Lane, Manchester.

"Officers attended and established that a male had been stabbed and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

"A male was arrested on suspicion of assault."
