'It took something spectacular': Jacob Murphy reveals what happened before his free-kick

Jacob Murphy admitted he was nervous ahead of his first Premier League start of the season - but could not be happier with the outcome at Wolves.

The winger struck in the 89th minute to whip home a wonderful free-kick to hand Newcastle a point on a day when it looked like their defensive game plan had failed.

However, the Magpies pounced right at the end of the game to cancel out Raul Jimenez's opener.

Afterwards, Murphy told Sky Sports: "I was a bit nervous going into the game,

"My brother gave me reassuring words before kick off. I have worked hard in training and took my chance.

"Last night, in the hotel, I did a bit of research on the goalie.

"I knew anything hard and low would catch him out. I looked around at the side of the wall and saw the little gap there and I thought, 'Yeah, hit it there.

After Wolves had dominated the game, Murphy's moment of magic was a sight for sore eyes for fans watching back home.

He said: "We were determined and dogged.

"It took something spectacular for them to get the lead."

And Murphy left the final word with Wilson for winning the free-kick.

He said: "He held everything up for us and got us up there when we need it

"He gave us a chance to get back in the game. It was frustrating and we played a lot of attacking players. We wanted to get up the field more. Wolves are a good team but we came away with a point."
