It sure seems like Jimmy Fallon had Rory McIlroy and Jim Furyk slip a funny line into interviews

With The Players Championship set to tee off this week at TPC Sawgrass, Tuesday’s media availability had a more laid-back atmosphere for the top golfers at the tournament.

It probably also presented an opportunity for Jimmy Fallon to pull off one of his signature pranks.

During last year’s NBA All-Star weekend, Fallon had Steph Curry slip random, funny phrases into his media interviews. He did the same prank that summer with the MLB All-Star Game. The same thing also happened with Tiger Woods.

Given that The Players Championship will air on the same network (NBC) as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, it would make plenty of sense for Fallon to give the prank a go with the golfers again. And it sure seemed like Rory McIlroy and Jim Furyk were up to the task.

Furyk, while speaking of Brooks Koepka, said that Brooks “likes big putts. Cannot lie.” OK, that was funny.

But when McIlroy dropped in the same line during his press conference, this had Fallon’s mark all over it.

That can’t be a coincidence.

I guess we’ll find out soon if this was a prank, but all signs are pointing to Fallon.
