It sure looks like the Nationals took a veiled shot at Bryce Harper ahead of NLCS Game 4

When Bryce Harper was introduced for the first time as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies in March, he misspoke in saying that he wanted to bring a title back to D.C.

Well, it sure seems like the Washington Nationals remembered that blunder seven months later.

The Nationals head into Tuesday’s Game 4 of the NLCS just one win away from the franchise’s first World Series appearance. With an opportunity to win that pennant at home, the Nationals took to Twitter and shared a hype video about an hour before the scheduled first pitch.

That caption couldn’t have been a coincidence. There’s just no way.

Compared to Harper’s original comments:

Some may call this tweet petty from the Nats, but I’m all for MLB pettiness when a team loses its franchise player to a division rival and responds on the field like the Nationals have this season. Sure, it’s sort of kicking Harper when he’s down, but he has 330 million reasons to not be bothered by a tweet.

Let the rest of us enjoy it.
