It sounds like punter Matt Wile will be the FG holder for Vikings

There were some rumblings that the Vikings could have receivers Adam Thielen or Chad Beebe hold field goal kicks for Dan Bailey.

Those rumblings have gone dead.

Per Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press, it appears as if punter Matt Wile will continue holding for Bailey.

Thielen admitted that he only got one rep holding in practice (likely the one that all of the media members saw).

It’s something that Wile, on the other hand, has more time to dedicate himself to.

“We just have a lot more time dedicated to it,” Wile said. “That’s what I’m doing for most of the practice after I finish punting. I’ve just got a lot more time to practice it than somebody else.”

It’s an interesting thing, right? How much does the holder impact the kicker? By most accounts, it seems like Bailey’s been somewhat inconsistent during training camp. By mixing the holders up, the Vikings took some attention away from Bailey’s struggles.

The kicking position has been Minnesota’s kryptonite for quite a while, and it looks like that’s continuing throughout this training camp.
