Following an embarrassing 41-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy was visibly upset with his team’s execution on Sunday night.
While the defense’s sloppy performance was the talk of the Monday presser — where they surrendered 41 points for the first time since 2016 — there was also a focus on the offense, namely the quarterback.
Mitchell Trubisky got his first start since being benched in Week 3. While the offense looked more efficient at times, Trubisky wasn’t without his faults. He committed three turnovers — two interceptions and a fumble returned for a touchdown.
When asked whether Trubisky would be the Bears’ starting quarterback Sunday against the Detroit Lions, Nagy fell short of committing to a starting quarterback. But it sounded like Nagy was leaning towards Trubisky.
“I don’t see why not,” Nagy said, while also not confirming it.

While Nagy remained committed to evaluating Nick Foles’ condition — he’s recovering from a hip injury — it makes sense for the Bears to give Trubisky another chance. The offense was able to move the ball decently at times, and the run game even found success.
And it doesn’t hurt that the Bears will facing the Lions, a team that Trubisky has dominated in his career.
But we’ll wait until Nagy confirms a starter, which could come as soon as Wednesday.
