Motivating yourself to go to the gym is hard enough as it is, sometimes it feels like there are a million obstacles and excuses preventing you from going. But for one woman on TikTok there literally was something preventing her from getting into her local gym.
Posted by “glorimunto” the video shows the would-be-gym-goer standing in an elevator with the doors opening up to nothing but a brick wall. According to her, this is supposed to be the floor where the gym she signed up to was but as we can clearly see, there is no longer a gym there.
The gym can be an intimidating place and we’ve all made excuses in the past not to go, but in this case she literally cannot even get inside the place. Hopefully she can get her money back because if not it seems she’s been royally ripped off.
If ever there were a sign from the universe telling you not to go to the gym, that would be one. Presumably that gym has been shut for quite some time if they were able to build an entire wall blocking it off from the elevator. Of course, that only begs the question of how this woman was able to sign up and pay for a membership when her local branch has long since been shut.
What happened in that gym?
Naturally the people of TikTok had more than a few things to say, “What happened in there for a whole gym size area to be WALLED off?” Asked one curious viewer. “9 and 3/4 ahh gym,” added another, making a reference to the Harry Potter franchise. “Gotta purchase that expansion pack girl,” joked a third while a fourth wrote, “It’s the first obstacle sis!”
You’d think that there’d be more warning signs letting people know that the gym is closed. Sure it would be more cost effective to just stop the lift from stopping at that floor? Building a whole brick wall right as you come out of the lift seems excessive, surely the space that gym occupies could still be put to use? One viewer questioned whether the wall had been put there to keep people out, or keep something in. In all likelihood it might just bee to prevent people stealing gym equipment.
If it’s a chain gym then glorimunto’s membership will likely be valid at the next nearest gym that belongs to that chain, although that may mean more travelling and committing to the gym is hard enough without having to add a long commute there and back each time. As one viewer suggested, she should probably get on the phone to her bank and get her money back. Maybe she’d be better off making herself a home gym.
