It's terrible, sad: Novak Djokovic on Boris Becker serving prison term

PARIS: Novak Djokovic expressed concern for his former coach Boris Becker, who is serving his prison term in the United Kingdom. The German superstar declared bankruptcy and concealed £2.5m of assets to avoid paying money he owed.

Djokovic said he was in touch with Becker’s family.

“It breaks my heart to see him go through this,” said Djokovic, who was coached by Becker for three years. “Boris is a friend and family member. We worked together for three years and achieved great things in this sport.”

“I’ve been in touch with one of his sons, Noah,” the Serb said. “I asked if there is something I could do to help. Just being there for his family members because I can't get to him.

“It's terrible. I'm just very sad that someone I know so well and, of course, someone that is a legend of our sport is going through what he's going through,” the world No. 1 said.

“I just hope that he will stay healthy and strong.”
