It’s possible Kyle Kuzma returns on upcoming Lakers road trip

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking forward to a potential 3-1 start if they handle their business at home on Tuesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies but they are also looking forward to a potential return to the floor for third year forward Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma has slowly been ramping up his workload, playing 4-on-4 for 25 minutes over the weekend. Apparently his body has responded well to the increased workload, because head coach Frank Vogel told reporters on Tuesday morning that there’s a chance Kuzma plays on the upcoming three-game road trip the Lakers have.

From Bill Oram of The Athletic

Kuzma has been off the court since playing in a couple of exhibitions for USA Basketball near the end of August. Kuzma has been dealing with a stress reaction ever since, keeping him limited in training camp and in street clothes through the first week of the season.

The Lakers embark on a three-game road trip beginning Friday in Dallas. While a return for Kuzma by week’s end may seem optimistic, the Lakers will have two more chances on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 to get Kuzma back on the floor.

But the specific date that Kuzma comes back isn’t the most relevant part of the update right now. What is relevant is that it appears to be coming soon, which is a drastic shift from where he’s been for most of the last two months.
