'It's painful' - Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs fans react to Man Utd Cristiano Ronaldo transfer

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham fans have all been giving their reaction to the news that Manchester United have re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports over the past few days have suggested that the Portuguese superstar was set to leave Juventus after just three seasons in Turin.

Manchester City were initially suggested as his next destination, but great rivals Manchester United have stolen a march on Pep Guardiola’s men and have announced the agreement they have in pace with Juventus to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

The move signals 36-year-old’s first return back to the Premier League after originally departing for Real Madrid in 2009.

Since then the Portuguese star has forged a reputation as one of the best players in the history of the sport, having claimed five Ballon d’Or awards, as well as four European Golden Shoes.

He continued his glorious run in Turin having led the club to two Serie A titles, as well as a Coppa Italia. However, his chapter in Serie A has now ended, with a return to Manchester dependent only on agreeing personal terms and completing a medical.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham fans all understandably have differing viewpoints on the move.

Here are the best of their responses from social media.

It is somewhat understandable that supporters are fearful of Ronaldo's return to Manchester considering his record against the trio during his first spell.

He netted 10 goals in 15 games in all competitions against Spurs, whilst netted a further six against Arsenal during his career.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has only managed to find the net once against Chelsea in 15 career appearances in all competitions.
